There are different ways in which you can send and receive messages on your iPhone; this includes – the regular text messages, popularly known as SMS and the iMessage service. For the starters, iMessage can be used to share messages with other iOS or Mac users over Wi-Fi (including images, videos, and text messages) and SMS messages are the regular text-based messages that you share on other platforms as well.

So, if on your iPhone, you aren’t able to send and receive messages, here’s what you can do:

To send messages using iMessage

• Turn on iMessage by visiting the Settings and turning on the service

• In Messages, tap on the Pencil-Pad icon on the right of the screen
• Enter the phone number or e-mail address of the recipient or tap on the + sign to choose a contact
• Type in your message; to add an image, video, or an audio file, tap on the relevant icon (at the bottom of the screen) and tap on the Send option to complete the task

Simple isn’t it? Now you can send as many messages you want, using iMessage, to your friends using iOS and Mac. If at any point you feel like disabling this service, simply visit Settings and turn off the service!

To send SMS messages from your iPhone

Many iPhone users, specifically iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users face difficulty sending SMS messages; but not anymore… Using these simple hacks, you’ll surely be able to roll over the difficulty.

• Reboot your iPhone by holding the Home and Power buttons till the device restarts
• Disable SMS forwarding by visiting the Settings apps > Messages > Text Message Forwarding > Turn Off

• Once the above is done, reset the network settings and allow your iPhone to reboot once again
• Turn Off LTE or use the Data Only option, if required
• Reboot the device yet one more time and then try sending a message

Typically, this should resolve the error; however, if you are still not able to get rid of it, restoring your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus device will be the only option left.
